Linkstars is small, self-funded and intends to stay both. We design, ship and operate our own products, and we write cheques off our own balance sheet into early software companies. Two halves of the same bet: that durable software comes from small teams with long horizons and nobody’s clock but their own.

Products we own end to end, run in production ourselves, and support directly. Owning the operation is not overhead — it is the only reliable way to find out what the next version should be.
We put our own capital behind early software companies.
Small cheques, written off our own balance sheet, into founders building durable software businesses. No fund, no outside money, no clock forcing an exit at somebody else’s convenience.
Our practice
These do not change with the product, the market or the decade. They are the reason we are able to say anything useful about the next thing we have not built yet.
Nothing we make gets handed over and walked away from. We run it in production, carry the pager, and answer the mail. Software written by people who never have to operate it is a recognizable kind of software, and we would rather not write it.
No outside capital and no growth we cannot service. That is a constraint on how fast we move and a licence to take on problems that only pay off after several years — which is most of the problems worth taking on.
Much of what our systems hold belongs to somebody else. Least access, encrypted in transit and at rest, restricted and audited production access. We do not sell it, broker it, advertise against it, or train models on it.
When two features turn out to be the same idea in different clothes, we merge them and delete the older path instead of maintaining both. Fewer concepts is a feature, and it is one the person using the software can feel.

Alumni chapters, unions, associations and congregations all keep the same three things — who belongs, how they are grouped, and when they gather — and most of them keep it in a spreadsheet that has outgrown itself. Fellowship Ledger is the directory that replaces it, and it models the organization’s actual shape rather than flattening it into a list.
